Hello everyone.

This week's photo is the Albany Covered Bridge, in (you guessed it) Albany NH. It is a beautiful structure that is still actively used as a single lane route to cross the Swift River in Albany NH.

For the Technology Geeks, this shot was captured using a three shot HDR (High Dynamic Range), 2 stops apart (+2, 0, -2) in order to capture the entire tonal range from sky, to underneath the bridge. The three shots were selected and then Right Click -> Photo Merge -> HDR was selected in Lightroom. After compiling, you are left with a DNG (Digital Negative) file with a much wider tonal range than any of the single shots. After some cleanup in LR, I then ran the Color Efex Pro 4 filter on it by Nik, and voila.

Hello everyone.

This shot was taken at Sabbaday Falls on the Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire. It is a short walk from the Parking lot to the falls, and well worth the effort to go see it.

For the Technology Geeks, the major goal here is to slow down your exposure time to get the falls to like more like a ribbon than freezing the motion of the water. This is easily accomplished with using a Neutral Density (6 stop ND) filter in front of your lens. This is a dark piece of glass that allows less light to get through, thus slowing down you shutter speed. This shot was taken at F14, 0.25s, ISO 100, at 17mm (16-35MM Lens) on a tripod.

Hello everyone.

Today's photograph was shot while on a scouting trip through the White Mountains this week. We stopped at multiple great locations, but one of my favorites was Jackson Falls. The weather was hot, the water was cool, and a lot of people were enjoying themselves in the cool streams of New Hampshire.

For the Technology Geeks, this shot was captured using a six stop Neutral Density Filter to slow down the waterfall and capture the running water as more of a ribbon. the camera details were F8, 1.3s, ISO 80, at 70 MM (using my 70 - 200mm Sony Lens). Little cleanup had to be done in Lightroom and the photo was finished.

Hello everyone.

This week's photos are a couple that I captured last Sunday when I was scouting Portsmouth NH. Beautiful downtown and coastal area in New Hampshire. The first shot is of the Music Hall Arch they put up on the start of Chestnut Street. You can see the Music Hall deep right in the picture. The second picture is a closer shot of the Music Hall. Beautiful building with a great color palette.

For the Technology Geeks, each shot was a three shot HDR (-2,0+2) handheld at f5.6, 1/400s, ISO80, and at 16mm. The three shots were run through Lightroom, Right Click -> Photo Merge -> HDR. The three shot HDR helped me capture the subject matter, and also capturing the great clouds that were in the sky that day.

Hello everyone

One of my favorite places to go and shoot is the Boston Public Gardens early (~6:00 am) on Sunday mornings. First it is a picturesque area to shoot, and early means very few people. This morning had a lot to offer with the sky cooperating and great light.

For the Technology Geeks, this was a three shot HDR with the base shot at 1/100s, F8, ISO 100, and 21mm (16-35mm Sony Lens). Pretty straight forward. Ran the three shots through the Photo Merge -> HDR function in Lightroom. I then ran the resulting shot through the Nik Filters in Color Efex Pro 4, to get the final result. To give an idea of how important processing the files can change the overall look, I've included the Base Raw file in the comments section below.
